Bond 25’s US distributor reported to be exploring bankruptcy protection

Annapurna has hired law firm to explore bankruptcy protection says Hollywood Reporter.

One of the recurring features of 007 in the 21st century have been the recurring problems with MGM. Skyfall was delayed due to the studio’s financial problems and going through chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Bond 25 was delayed initially because MGM has no distribution arm and needed to find a partner after their previous deal with Sony ended.

And now MGM’s chosen distribution partner has financial problems due to a string of poor box office results.

The Hollywood Reporter now says multiple sources have told them that Annapurna has engaged a law firm to explore bankruptcy protection.

The big question is, will this affect Bond 25 when it is released next year?

For an analysis of the situation I recommend you read this article on The Spy Command and this one on MI6.
